About Helena Keeffe
Helena Keeffe has been sewing since her first lesson on her great grandmother's Singer sewing machine when she was nine years old. Her experiences in alternative education and visual art have resulted in projects which rely on the participation of groups of people and explore art-making as a social act. Since 2000, when she graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, she has exhibited her artwork in galleries and public places, received grants in support of her work and developed sewing and art workshops for places as diverse as a small charter school using Waldorf methods to the Walker Art Center.
